I have a bias for all things Japan, I'll admit. I love sushi and sake and Japanese literature. I love low tables and paper walls. Yotsuba has all these but the Lit. Beautiful, classic Japanese decor. The food was real good, the highlight for me being the spicy scallops drenched in cream sauce. I had a guacamole roll, which was odd but not unpleasant (and obviously not very traditional). Will return many times to this place.

Groupon usually mean something is wrong or business is bad...seems the latter is possible as it was pretty empty when we arrived. That being said, the food clearly doesn't suffer and what we ordered flew out of the kitchen. We ordered tapas style and shared dishes. It's not easy to find grilled Yellow Fin Tuna collar, but they have it and it is awesome. The best cut on the fish in my opinion. Fatty and sweet. We moved on to Duck in ginger sauce, which was ok. A little too sweet for me. We found the spring rolls to be some of the best we have had period. Flavorful and crispy. The deep fried tofu has a bit more coating that you'd expect but it held up to the sauce well and was a nice size portion. The sushi is decent, nothing out of the ordinary but I'd reorder again. The Groupon is such a good deal. I think it is 27 for 40 or 45. It is still out there. Even without, we might be back. The only downfall of this place is that is is right in the middle of construction on Orchard Lake Rd.

The food here is good, but unpredictable. It comes out different every time and often wrong. I'd give the food a C. You WILL have to wait forty minutes for water and flag your waiter down when you're ready to order. The servers are very nice but not well educated on how to serve. If you come here just be prepared to be patient, bring good company and block out a good 2.5 hours of your day. I personally don't think the experience is worth the price.

My wife and I have been coming here for the last 7 years or so after trying all of the sushi restaurants in the area. The food here is superb, the prices are very reasonable, and the service is great. We come here often enough that the servers even know my kid's name so perhaps they are more attentive than others have experienced. Seating has never been an issue.

Ah sushi, we meet again. I'm always on the lookout for good sushi places, and my friend Tiffany suggested we go here (whether it was because she had a Groupon for it, I'll never know). Let's break it down. The good: +Really good Onion soup. It's probably a new addition to the menu, since it looked like it was stickered on the menu and not printed on. Delicious. +Seafood pancake cooked perfect. Not too much tempura, and not oily/greasy at all. However, I couldn't taste any individual seafood that was supposed to be in there. I mean, it has seafood in the name, so I'll take it at that. +Sushi rice. B+. Soft, not rolled too tightly, and not too much of it. But it was lacking the slight tang from the vinegar that I'm used to. +Mackerel nigri was the best I've ever had, anywhere. Hands down. But it's not for the faint of heart to try, since it tastes the fishiest out of all usual nigri. +Awesome building material. Wood everywhere. really gives an rustic, classic feel to the place. The bad: -I had to flag someone down to take our order, and we were the only party there. Dafuq man? -Food took a bit to come out, even though we were the only ones there. -Forgot my mackerel nigri until I brought it up. -Fried rice too salty. -Shrimp fried rice only had 5 big shrimp. why not have like 10 medium? Notes: Honestly it's an ok place. I didn't like how everything was really split up by wooden borders (or is it board-ers? hehe). It gives a sense of privacy to the booths, but really makes the place seem smaller and cut-off. A better and more open view of the sushi bar could make things more inviting. Also, when you don't know how close you are to strangers because you can't see them, you're more likely to say obnoxious things which you may regret saying out loud later. I didn't order any of my classic rolls, like the tuna roll, the salmon roll, so I can't attest to the quality of their usual fish, but if it's anything like the mackerel, then I'm sure it's on point.

Well the sushi is still good, but the wait takes FOREVER. And most troubling, I ordered a spicy tofu roll and the waiter gave me a flounder roll. He told me over and over (I confirmed with him again when he came back to the table) "It's tofu," but as soon as I took a bite I knew it was fish. After that, he came back over and informed us that he was wrong, it was flounder. When I told him I've been a vegetarian for almost 20 years, he laughed at me. We won't be back.

The food here is good, The servers are nice but not well trained on how to serve. I had to ask for my water to be refilled multiple times. All the sushi is very fresh, however they are more pricey than comparable Japanese restaurants in the area. The seafood ramen is a must here!

  • Alan C.

Great sushi...a little on the pricey side but moderate for the area of west Bloomfield. Rolls are well sized and their chirashi dinner had great large portions and wide variety of fish.

  • Myles G.

Fantastic food and service, stopped by on a Sunday, and was promptly and politely served. I really enjoyed the rolls that I got, and would would come here more often. There is construction going on, which makes it a bit challenging to get to. Pleasant experience none the less!

Sushi was ok didn't change my life Service Was ok however no food on any of our plates for about 1 hour at least No joke ,also we had toddlers with us which made it feel like 2 hours Ill give them another chance

    1) There was no heat 2) I didn't like my roll and they wouldn't take it back 3) The bar was closed Need I say more. I will not be returning to this establishment. Ever again. Any more questions?

Overpriced and service was not friendly. Waitress was asked 3 times to bring a glass of water. Speaking of water, the men's bathroom does not have hot water. I let the faucet run for 3 minutes and all that came out was ice cold water! Imagine the kitchen staff not washing with warm water? I brought it to managers attention and I hope the issue will be fixed. The food was decent but not worth the price. I had the chicken teriyaki. The temperature was way too hot as if they warmed it in the microwave oven. The sushi was good. Not sure if I would come back though. I used a Groupon and the price tag for 2 meals and a little sushi was over $80 with one glass of beer.

My favorite restaurant in Michigan. Great sushi and sashimi, love the miso soup, tuna tataki, best agadashi tofu I've ever had, everything is great! Nice thick slices of sashimi and nice serving sizes. Highly recommended. Lots of authentic Japanese options. The bento box is a great lunch deal! Also, they offer many"American" rolls.

This is my favorite sushi place of all time! My family & friends have been coming to this restaurant for years now. Not only for the food but, the staff is awesome as well ! My favorite rolls are the firecracker, dynamite roll and fancy California roll! Also, their avocado & asparagus salad is my favorite salad ever. Ginger dressing is the best I've had!! THIS PLACE IS A MUST TRY!

  • Matt G.

As far as local Sushi goes - this place is top two or three. Considering the amount of options - that's saying a lot. Really high quality - although you are going to pay a little more... but it's Sushi, what do you expect? Wait staff has always been wonderful to us - although we tend to dine during off-hours. Recommendation? Try the Spring Roll. These aren't little eggs rolls - this is a veggie packed sushi roll - AMAZING.

We come here about once a week and it's always so good and consistent. They now offer black rice which is amazing with health benefits and much better for you then white rice. Also great prices.

This used to be an OK place but last dining experience was terrible from the service to the food. Must be under new management or ownership well anyway another one to scratch off the dining list. Need to mention also got sick but don't want to get too graphic....

  • Sarang K.

Company? Excellent. Interior? Beautiful. Food? Mediocre. Experience? A-OK. Decent service. Revisit? Definitely. But with a groupon. They are on the pricey side. Depending on what exactly you're looking for, I would probably be able to recommend some other restaurants. But I do have to give them credit for a couple of their rolls which are unique to them. At least from my experience. As always with Japanese restaurants, the Bento is probably a good deal. And this one comes with less frills, and more yummylicious stuff.

I went there yesterday ordered take out. Shushi & shrimp fried rice. Very bland... Maybe the shushi chef was still bringing the New Year! I was very disappointed because the ratings are so high on yelp. What happened? I'll never go back!

It is places like this that make you NOT want to try new restaurants and just stick to the ones you know and trust. My wife and I walk in and the place is pretty empty. This includes guests as well as staff. We stand by the door for 4-5 minutes before someone walks up and we are seated. After being seated we waited another 5 minutes for the waiter to bring menus and then at least 10 minutes before we received water and our order was taken. It then took literally 1 hour for us to receive our order of 4 sushi rolls. Within this hour we received no updates about our order. 40 minutes in, when our water was finally refilled, I enquired about the wait and was told that they only have 1 sushi chef that day. It wasn't an apology for our wait but more a justification/excuse. The restaurant was extremely cold. After a while we put our winter coats on. So after sitting for an hour in a cold and empty restaurant, we finally got our sushi. It was pretty good but at that point it really didn't matter. The dining experience was ruined. We will definitely not go back. Reading other people's reviews shows that this wasn't an isolated case of poor customer service and long wait times.

Today was our 3rd visit. Sushi was fresh and very tasty. As important, the atmosphere is relaxing and fresh. The service has been good all three visits. A great sushi alternative to the noisy " in spots".

Nabeyaki Udon was fantastic. Noodles were firm, broth was yummy ! The service was good. It is an Asian style restaurant, their service styles differ from American. Definitely will be back to try more of their menu. Well worth the ride to WB.

Best sushi for me in MI by far! Great food too apart from the sushi like fried rice, teriyaki salmon, and udon bowls. This place is known for its salads with crazy good ginger soy dressing. I buy a bottle almost everytime. Awesome service too! Just ask for Carlito our favorite waiter of all time! Can't say enough of this place!

This is by far my new favorite sushi restaurant. I came here the first time about a year ago for a friends birthday because I had purchased a Groupon and we wanted to try it. There were so many choices for sushi eaters and non-sushi eaters alike. The people who did not eat sushi all loved the dishes like their fried rice and teriyaki chicken and tempura vegetables. The sushi lovers ate the Dynamite Roll, Las Vegas Roll, and the Firecracker Roll, and I, as a vegetarian, loved the Fried Tofu Roll. The spicy mayo is ridiculously good. And the sushi rice is perfect...not too sweet or sticky like a lot of places. When we first pulled up to the restaurant I was nervous...it was in a strip mall and looked small from the outside. When we walked in, it was like entering a Japanese oasis. There is a real water pond and lovely décor. The setup makes dining private and intimate if needed. This place...restaurant, sushi bar, even the bathroom...is super clean which is always a major bonus. The staff is very pleasant, happy, and accommodating...they answered questions and checked on us often. The food was fresh, delicious, and fairly quickly delivered to the table. I have no problem driving out of my way to visit there and plan to do so often!

If you'd like a vacation to Japan closer to home, you've found your place. Let me start with the inside. The interior is beautiful. There is an indoor fountain with soothing water, delicate shōji (Japanese sliding doors) for private parties, a sushi bar and tasteful decore from Japan. The service is excellent and the waitstaff is attentive. I ate lunch here with two other friends and did not experience a waitstaff that was AWOL as some of the other reviewers have mentioned. The food is absolutely the best around. It is some of the highest quality and each plate looks like a piece of art. We ordered the Yotsuba Kaiseki Bento which is served in the traditional and decorative lacquer box. There was a wide variety of food to eat in the box and for $14, your taste buds will go wild. We also ordered sushi rolls and green tea to drink which we found to be delicious :-) For the food and atmosphere, I didn't feel at all that it was overpriced. I was actually surprised because Japanese restaurants with comparable plates either charge more or charge a little less but the quality of food suffers. We enjoyed our time there and will definitely be back soon!

My Favorite sushi place I have ever eaten at. Not the cheapest place but its worth it. I crave it all the time. The fancy California roll is amazing!!!!

Love when Yotsuba has a Groupon! The restaurant is very quiet and clean. I highly recommend the Amazing Roll and the Tako salad.

Good food, but extremely overpriced. Still - the best sushi/Japanese food I've had in Michigan. It's up to you to decide whether you want to spend the $ (dinner for 2 set us back $75 pre-tip). 4 stars for the food, but if you're factoring in the price, I'd probably knock it down to 3 stars. It's good; just not $75-good.

This place is really good. I normally don't like the local sushi places and neither does my dinner companion. We decided to try Yotsuba because of a Groupon. We went on a Friday night and boy was it busy! There were a bunch of other groupon users there too and only two or three servers. We waited for just a few minutes before we were seated and then we had to wait a while to have our orders taken but after that, it was down to business. Our server was so efficient and pleasant. He had a bunch of tables and our food came out promptly and our drinks were refilled appropriately. We ordered a bunch of sushi rolls, seaweed salads and some appetizers. We really liked everything. The fish tasted very fresh and isn't that the most important thing? My personal favorites were the Futomaki and the seaweed salad, yum! The presentation was beautiful and the restaurant itself has a very nice interior that's conducive to a calm dining experience. I know we'll visit this restaurant again when the sushi craving hits.

  • Tamara Y.

Just like the last time I visited the restaurant, the service was painfully slow. As far as I could tell, there was one waitress for the entire (sparsely inhabited) establishment. Even then, she was completely AWOL for 5-10 minutes at a time. I had to wait (and wait) for nearly every aspect of my meal. Seriously -- on what planet should you wait 15-20 minutes to get a bowl of miso soup or your water refilled? And I wasn't alone -- of the few people in the restaurant, several were spotted standing up to look for the waitress or walking around with their bill, looking for someone to pay. Poor service is the primary reason I would not return to the restaurant. The food is actually pretty decent.

I have passed by here a million times and didn't think to go in. My hubby had a Groupon and we decided to try it. We were pleasantly surprised by the great quality of the sushi! We ordered 4 rolls, all of which had a lot of flavor and tasted fresh. We got the Las Vegas, caterpillar, spicy shrimp, and firecracker rolls. My favorite was the firecracker and my husband liked the Las Vegas. The restaurant was clean and quiet; we will definitely come back to try other rolls.

  • Annie S.

The sushi here is outstanding and my favorite in metro Detroit. The rolls are flavorful and can be ordered with brown rice (most of the time). Many of the rolls have sesame seeds which also make them more flavorful. The cilantro crunch flounder roll is fantastic and reasonably priced at $7.50. The Fire Cracker Roll ($9.50) with shrimp tempura & avocado with topping of spicy crabmeat salad, mayo, sauce & masago is also a favorite. Even their California roll is above average as it's made with crab salad and not just the stick of crab, sesame seed and even better with spicy mayo (Spicy CA roll). The spicy tuna roll doesn't seem to be quite spicy enough most of the time so needs a bit of doctoring up. We do take out almost exclusively as we've found the service to be slow, management to be somewhat unwelcoming, and the drinks seem to be a second thought here. I assume others feel the same way as I've never seen more than a few tables occupied when I go in to pick up my take out order. Having said that, the interior is appealing, comfortable and clean.

Awful experience. This restaurant doesn't even have a manager and their fish is gross.

  • Neil Y.

Always a winner! I promise you will never have a bad meal here. We've eaten here about seven times and have not had a problem. The sushi is some of the best around and all of the entrees (I try something different every time) are exquisite. I recommend the soups with soba noodles, any of the teriyakis but I like the bento box meals. If you have never had saki, try it here as they have an extensive saki menu. Have the server help you pick one out and try it warm. I love the ambiance as you can have a semi-authentic experience at the low tables in semi-private rooms and the service is consistently friendly. The room is never too loud but stick around for fun karaoke after 10PM. Come in at the right time and you might hear me singing "Tiny Bubbles."

  • Anna S.

I hate to admit that we were that table that came in 15 mins before they closed! Surprisingly they were super accommodating and truly went above and beyond for us. The place is super clean and very quaint... I love it! Many reviews have stated and I agree this place is very much underrated, their sushi is amazing! Very fresh, great cuts and textures, nice presentation. They always keep your glasses filled and table clean. The service was much better then many sushi bars in the area. We will definitely be back!

  • Liz R.

Very depressed they did away with their weekend AYCE brunch! Good sushi and a variety of rolls. We've most recently tried the Flounder Tempura roll with cilantro crunch and the Las Vegas roll, which had large pieces of cucumber and avocado inside, and spicy tuna on top of half and slices of raw tuna over the other half. Very good app selections. Decent Tempura Soba, but I've had better. Large, brightly lit interior. We've always had a booth, which are comfortable and private. Good service. Huge sushi bar.

Food was good but the service is so unbelievably slow.... Ann arbor location so much better!

We came here after leaving Mene Sushi without eating in what appeared to be a staffing crisis. Yotsuba was not overly busy and the seating was prompt. Atmosphere was very nice - way nicer than Mene. I could hear a fountain but never saw it. There was a Japanese seating area and all the booths were very private. I liked that there was a tv that could be seen and not heard. The saki was good. I believe there is a full bar. The ginger salad and miso soup is terrific. This is where the meal fell apart a little. I had the avacado roll which was tasty. My husband had the spicy tuna which he said was tasteless. The menu was a little confusing because it listed the roll like spicy tuna/salmon and my husband thought you got both fish. Not so - it was a choice. And he chose the tasteless one. If I was in a pinch again (unable to get into Mene) I would go to Kabuki or Sushi-Ko. But I would come back to Yotsuba to try their Japanese fare.

Today my husband and I had an early dinner. Miso soup, house salad-Japanese pancake and grilled squid. My husband had soup and a sashimi salad that was loaded with fresh fish. My pancake was quite filling- with fish, cheese, veggies. I love the ginger dressing on the house salad and the miso had greens and tofu. The cooking is superb and the fresh fish almost jumps off your plate-it's so fresh! The squid was served with a little bit of ginger. Really wonderful and healthy food.

I live in the area and me and my kids love sushi so we walked in around 4pm on a weekday and waited 10 minutes while 3 employees working behind the bar ignored us. We left. About a month later on a Sunday evening we took my husband back with us to see if we should give them a second chance but nope! Again we waited 10 minutes and the 3 employees working behind the bar ignored us. Obviously we will never step foot inside again :(

We have lived a mile from the this place for some years now but never tried it. We did last night and we were very impressed. I loved the decor. The food was very good. The onion soup was incredible. I think maybe the best soup I ever had! We had octopus salad and that was very good and a good size dish. The sushi was also very good. Our tea cups were always being filled up. It was our first time here but it will not be our last.

This place is so good and very underrated. I have visited this sushi restaurant twice now after using their Groupon offer. Their sushi is very good, fresh, and clean and I am a very picky sushi eater. It is very unfortunate that their business is so slow. The two times I have visited were dinner times so I would assume it would be busy rather it was awkwardly dead. Regardless, their sushi is great and service is good. I hope that their business gets better, they deserve more credit. Some sushi restaurants in the area are booming but not nearly as tasteful. One star deducted for slow atmosphere.

  • Suzan C.

Decent food, erratic, often poor service... And overly high prices. For those not using groupon, is that artificially inflating the prices? Also, weirdly uncrowded. Sharaku is more authentic, much better service, almost always busy.

My husband and I would frequent this restaurant on a regular basis when he was living in Farmington Hills (before we were married). The service was always fantastic, many booths for privacy, and delicious rolls!!!

Went on a groupon. So glad we did. It's actually my favorite Japanese restaurant I've visited in the SE Michigan area so far. The prices are good, portions large, service quick, menu extensive. Been a few times. The curry chicken katsu is good. The bi bim bap has good flavors but both times we got it the stone bowl must not have been that hot because the rice didn't get hard & crispy which is my favorite part of the dish. The sushi is fresh. The centipede roll is awesome. Had the fried ice cream which was huge and definitely a great ending to the meal. It's never been packed when I've dined for dinner but I've never had the chance to eat in the private room. Seems authentic & cool. I believe you sit on pillows on the ground to eat. Not sure if its only for larger groups.

My wife, daughter, and I went to this restaurant with our cousins from Michigan. It was a very special night with very great food overall. Despite my wife not being the biggest fan of sushi, she loved the Volcano roll, which is vegetarian but with spicy sauce that bursts in your mouth. All of us loved the vegetable fried rice. One of my favorite sushi dishes of the evening was the Tempura California Roll. My wife and I were particularly enthusiastic about the Beef Teriyaki, which was cooked to the best temperature (Well Done). Definitely go here when you get a chance.

Yotsuba was good. I wouldn't go back though because it's so far away from where I live and it wasn't fantastic enough to justify making the trip again. I do recommend the Chirashi entree; the presentation was great and it tasted great. Seafood on the platter tasted fresh.

Yotsuba is amazing! I frequently visit the West coast, which arguably has the best sushi, and this place nearly beats most of my joints out there. The staff is always friendly and the decor is very traditional (love the seating areas). The rolls here are very well done, and presented very well. Also, the sushi chefs are experienced as the rolls never fall apart as I have experienced at some areas. The rolls also look to be very fresh, which is a good sign. Totally recommend this to anyone in the area looking for a sushi fix.

waited with another group of customers at the empty front desk for about ten minutes before got served. waiter looked like that he didn't shower for a week. always impressed by the elegancy many Japanese restaurants, i felt little disappointed. Service was slow, we ordered beer and tea first. when the beer was finally served, we found a red lip stain printed on the dirty glass. losing time and all appetite, we stood up and left. i didn't have to see the food to tell that their waiters weren't trained well and their kitchen wasn't clean. the worst Japanese restaurant i've been to.

This is my go to sushi place and ate there twice this week including tonight. It has high quality sushi always fresh and delicious. Good service. I'm actually surprised this place isn't busier, never have to wait to get a table and interiors is much nicer and more comfortable than a lot of other sushi restaurants in the area. Maybe because prices are a little higher than some others, but you can find a groupon which makes it a real deal.

  • Harris N.

Yotsuba has become my favorite authentic Japanese restaurant. Their menu is much more diverse and authentic than many others in the area. The food is always prepared nicely and consistent. My favorite dishes are the pork katsu curry, yakisoba, and any of the house bentos.

  • Jon G.

Started a sushi binge recently hitting up a couple local bars in the Oakland County area. None have been too impressive. The service at Yotsuba was particularly slow this particular weekday leading me to return late to work. If I hadn't been pressed for time, there would have been no complaints. Lunch specials were fairly priced - many rolls were priced between $3 and $5. I was pleased with the selection and ordered a few rolls including one I had never seen before - an asparagus tempura roll. I'm a bit of a sushi newbie, so I couldn't tell you if this is a popular roll served nearly everywhere, but it was interestingly-good. And I don't even claim to be a huge asparagus fan - for obvious smelly reasons. I would recommend this restaurant to others, but if you go on your lunch break like I did, make sure you let them know you are in a rush.

  • Toni B.

As others have noted - the ginger salad dressing is spectacular! The sushi is very good. I have tried the duck breast appetizer which is mouth watering and an Americanized okonomiyaki appetizer which is quite delicious as well. My favorite dish to order is the Nabeyaki Udon which has a flavorful broth and light noodles. It is served with the tempura separate. I really don't see how you can go wrong with any type of order here. The restaurant itself is beautiful and the service is excellent.

Great staff, pleasant atmosphere with quiet music, clean restaurant and yummi menu. Sushi is always good and they have good lunch/dinner deals. Not overpriced and definitely great place to relax and have a good sushi.

Had almost given up on fresh, unique sushi in the Detroit area until I went here. The service was great, the presentation and freshness of the food, especially with the pictures of the different rolls on the menu exceeded my expectations. I thought there was a wide variety for those of us who want to experience something besides california rolls. Atmosphere was great too, well lighted, with booth options, streams, and a private room. We enjoyed the Miso soup, Yellowtail roll, Crab roll, Tuna/Avocado roll, Alaska roll, Flounder tempura w/ cilantro (best one!!). Thank you Groupon for choosing a great place. Would like to come back and try the new specialty rolls and rainbow roll.

There are two Yotsuba locations - one in Ann Arbor and one in West Bloomfield - and I have dined at both in the past. Both restaurants offered a good selection of rolls and fresh fish. The first time I ever went to Yotsuba was years ago with a very nice Japanese boy, who felt it was the best sushi restaurant in the area. More recently, I've had lunch at the Yotsuba in the WB a few times. When you walk in, the restaurant has a zen-like atmosphere and an ethereal feel. The space is big, but sectioned off, so wherever you are dining, there is a sense of intimacy. The menu is more than fairly priced, with Miso Soup costing $1.75 and the House Salad being only $2.25. The specialty rolls will add up, but that's true anywhere. Whichever rolls and Nigiri you choose to order, I'm sure you'll be more than happy, as I have enjoyed everything I tried. If you like something with a kick, though, you must order the Firecracker Roll.

We waited for quite a while before eventually asking the host or possibly the runner if anybody was going to serve us. He took our order, and then our waitress came over a few minutes later to confirm our order and to tell us that we marked one of our sushi orders in the wrong spot, which we did not, but that's irrelevant. After that, she took a while to bring our salads. Seaweed salad was exactly the same as anywhere else. Then after quite a bit more waiting she brought us our obviously microwave-cooked edamame. The host/runner was there, at least, to clean off the table and refill our drinks (he never added more ice, though which was weird) and we saw him way more than our server. The meal was decent. The chicken yakitori was really good (although no white meat), and the eel/avocado and asparagus/avocado rolls were fine. The nigiri was not so much. It was definitely overpriced, and subpar. The tuna looked old, but tasted ok. The white tuna, however, was disgusting. It was supposed to be raw, but it tasted like they tried to cook it with a heat lamp-- really dry, weird texture and tasted just awful. Had the restaurant been even slightly busy, I would have been more understanding with how weirdly long everything took, but as somebody who has worked in a number of restaurants I know I was not just being picky. As a waitress, you have to move fast-- It's just part of the job-- and our server was not only taking a long time to actually getting around to dealing with us, but she was also literally walking at a snail's pace! It was absolutely ridiculous. So overall, absurdly bad service, absurdly bad nigiri, ok rolls and salad, pretty good yakitori and atmosphere, and altogether not at all worth it.

Had a really bad experience here, service was terrible, we did have a large party but still had to ask for basic things such as menus many times over again. Sushi was just bad couldn't even finish it; overpriced as well.

The house salad was superb. All the rolls I tasted were also very very great. I had come here by recommendation from a couple friends and it definitely met my expectations. It was also not outrageously priced which can be hard to find for a good sushi restaurant.

The sushi is great, unfortunately both times I've been there the service has been extremely slow.

Very good sushi overall, however, the service was less than acceptable. At no point was the restaurant more than 60% capacity yet the wait staff was not attentive at all resulting in a long wait to be seated, to order and to receive food. Forget about refills on beer or water (we were offered neither during the course of our entire meal). For a $60+ dinner more is expected.

My husband and I love sushi, and ussualy go to Katana for it in Royal Oak. However this time we were on Orchard Lake Rd. and decided totry something new. I like the location of Yotsuba, because it is conveniently placed in a plaza near a Russian grocery store, a Ukrainian bank, and another a restaurant Allegro. One could say it is a multi-cultural plaza:) The atmosphere of Yotsuba is very pleasent. The restaurant is very spacious, yet very intimate. The booths are big, and are private. We arrived at about 3pm and the place was pretty much empty. My husband and I ordered Miso soup, Alaska Roll, Amazing Roll, and Salmon Roll. I thought the Miso soup was a bit salty, but my husband liked it. The Rolls were to die for!!! Amazing!!! They were the best sushi rolls I've had so far. We dipped the rolls in spicy mayo and it brought on more flavor. The wait for the food was a little long, however the food was worth the wait!! The prices are a bit expensive, compared to other sushi places I've been to, but like I said they are simply phenomenal!! If you like sushi, come here!!

My boyfriend and I came here to use a Groupon and quite honestly, I wasn't expecting to love it. It got good reviews but nothing ever seems to compare to "our" Sushi Zen in Brighton. I can tell you that we LOVED IT. Their roll selection was smaller than we are used to, and I don't order rolls with Cream cheese in them, so we went with one roll, soup and several sushi appetizers. I had the miso, and the bf had the clear onion soup. Both were generous and very flavorful. We got the Agadashi Tofu and Salmon Tartare, both of which were good. We got the Calamari Roll which was excellent. Very tender calamari and nice flavor. The pieces were on the large side, so difficult to eat, but no complaints here. The stand out of the evening was the Tuna Tataki Crispy, which was EXCEPTIONAL. I woke up wanting it this morning. So, overall, wonderful. Now we have a place a little closer to home and we will most certainly be back. I will say the service was a little slow, but very friendly and we were in no hurry, so we didn't mind. And the other yelp reviewer who commented on the restroom, must have been there on an off night. The bf and I found them to be pristine. Highly recommend.

This place is not the most convenient of locations but worth the u-turn. Everythign is delicious and fresh. The servers are not in a rush but super attentive and friendly. They recently ran a Groupon so if you happen to catch that the value is amazing.

I've been coming here for almost 7 years or so, and I love it. The sushi is some of the best I have ever had, and I hold all other sushi restaurants to Yotsuba's standard. The ambience is great, it's so cozy and peaceful. Great service, and a really wonderful place to just relax and enjoy good food. I would highly recommend Yotsuba.

The first thing that attracts me to Yotsuba is the decor, i think it is the nicest of the Japanese restaurants in the WB/Novi area that i frequent on a regular basis. Service is also very good & Friendly, food i think is only average, Sashimi/Sushi not as good as Sharuku or Cherry Blossom & non Sushi dishes not as good as Kitchen Hanzou, but certainly a decent restaurant & if you are in the Orchard road area i think the best choice for Japanese food

it took 45 minutes to get our food. They told us they forgot about our order!? Order not correct when we finally received it. First and last time.

I give Yotsuba 5 stars, simply because out of the Sushi restaurants that I have checked out, I've found this one to be the best, although Sumo in Rochester is my second choice. A friend of mine introduced me to this place probably close to two years ago, and I was very very happy with my experience then, and have been back several times since, my most current outing being last night with said friend and a handful of other great people for what turned out to be a surprise for my birthday. Even though I am a chef, whenever I dine out, I find the dish that I like from that particular place, and latch onto it, usually not ever deviating from that dish. I know this defies the logic of most chefs, and probably most diners, but dining out is something I enjoy to a great extent, and I am very leery about ordering something I might not like, as this will certainly piss me off, and sour my overall experience, as well as the experience of whomever dares to dine with me, unfortunately. But not to worry fellow yelpers, as Yotsuba has provided me with a handful of rolls that I like, but also has given me ides of things to try the next time I am there. I guess I'm getting more adventurous with increasing age. While the service last night left something to be desired, the rolls were outstanding as usual. I don't venture into the whole raw thing yet, so I stuck to my two staples; the crunch crab roll, and the spicy tofu roll. I also ordered what has now become my new favorite; the tempura sweet potato roll. I've had it at a couple of other places, and Yotsuba cannot be beat. It's a bit of a trek from my home base, but definitely worth the drive. Do yourself a favor

Super slow service! Food was ok but it took 10 minutes just to get water. Nicely set up and decorated but don't sit by the water fountain, you'll hear the fountain, the TV and all the kitchen noise.

I visited Yotsuba with my fiance on a recent Friday night. The restaurant itself is lovely. It was a very peaceful setting for a meal. We started off with edamame, which i can't imagine cn be prepared poorly, but tasted especially fresh and was perfectly salted. We also had the agedashi tofu, which was tasty, but the seaweed in the broth/sauce was fishier tasting than I normally taste. We had spicy tofu tempura rolls and also spicy california rolls which were fantastic, but the spicy sauce is VERY spicy. Next time I would get it on the side so i can use it very sparingly. Our main courses were Kitsune Udon soup (his) and Yaki Udon with tofu (for me). The yaki udon was fantastic and had a ton of tofu in it. Overall the food was very good. It was a bit pricier than comparable Japanese restaurants we've tried, but the atmosphere was nicer than many of the places we've tried. We probably won't become regulars at this place, but we'd both go back...

I think this place is improving over time. My first visit was not very impressive. But subsequent visits have changed my mind. Their broth for the noodle soups is quite delicious. They have a lovely appetizer of pickled vegetables. The curry rice was pretty authentic.

Definitely one of the better Japanese restaurants in the area...I live on the other side of town as Cherry Blossom, so we'll split the difference and go here instead. Prices are reasonable and the space is nice, though I prefer the Ann Arbor location's look and feel a bit more.
